HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
Hair loss may occur in every phase of life depending
on genetic, hormonal, age related and chronic
diseases related problems.
Today more than 50% of men and 25%
of women suffer from hair loss at different levels.
Hair is in a continuously repeating cycle.
In this cycle, while some part of hair gets long,
some part is lost.
Lost hair follicles enter into a certain resting
phase (telogen phase).
Following
this phase, anagene phase starts.
In this phase, hair starts growing and hair growth
of this period constitutes 80-90% of the total hair
amount.
This period takes approximately 3-4 years.
In catagen phase, growth stops, hair strands weaken
and get thinner.
There is no hair loss in this period.
These phases are integrated and follow each other.
This cycle is repeated in about 3-4 years.
Hair loss called androgenic type causing hair loss
in forehead and top area occurs in men.
In these men, hair in Geri of the neck and between
two ears is never lost.
The reason of this type hair loss is that hair roots
are sensitive to testosterone hormone in men.
Hair in the Geri of the neck is not lost because
hair roots in this area are not sensitive to this
hormone.
Hair roots are gathered from this area because there
is no hair loss
There are two methods in the world preferred for
natural results in hair transplantation.
These are FUT and FUE methods.
These are alternatives to each other.
In FUT method, an ellipse shaped scalp in 12-14 cm
length and 3 cm width is taken from this area under
local anesthesia.
Hair strands on this line are prepared for
transplantation in groups of 1, 2 and 3.
No harm is caused to hair roots in this operation.
These prepared hair groups are implanted one by one
in the holes on the planned area.
Implant operation is conducted to form a natural
hair line.
Patient can go home 1-2 hours after operation.
Hair is not washed for 48 hours after operation.
Then hair is washed thereafter with special
solutions on a daily basis.
Swelling and bruising may occur around the forehead
and eye area after operation.
They disappear in a few days.
Transplanted hair is lost after operation and they
start to grow again after 2-3 months.
In one operation, about 1.000-1.500 hair roots are
transplanted.
A second session may be required as the hair may be
thin after transplantation.
This needs to be kept in mind that hair
transplantation is a surgical operation and it
should be conducted by a specialist physician.
In the operation, hair roots are taken from Geri of
the neck or other body areas (chest and Geri) with
special needles in 0.9-1 mm width.
The most important difference from the other method
is that there is no stitch scar on the Geri of the
neck and recovery is faster.
It is an alternative especially used for patients
with inadequate flexibility in vendor area.
The only difference between FUT method and FUE
method is the method of hair root collection.
Transplantation phase is the same with FUT method.
FUE method is preferred more compared to FUT method
because there is no scar on the graft collection
area.
But the number of collected grafts is lower compared
to FUT method.
Transplanted hair is lost after operation and they
