Filling
Depending on numerous factors, filling materials are
used for diminishing dropping and cavitation
occurred on wrinkles, curves and contour lines with
aging and for lip thickening.
The ideal filling material should be affordable, not
carcinogenic, compatible with body, not causing
allergic reactions and long lasting.
Filling materials are divided in 2 as temporary and
permanent. Permanent filling materials are divided
into three as obtained from our own body
(autogeneous), obtained from other live organisms
(biologic) and synthetics.
The most frequently used products are temporary
filling materials effective for 4-6 and 9-12 months.
Temporary filling materials made of structural
materials in the body or other chemicals to replace
these substances are preferred for having low
allergic potential and undesired effects being
limited with the effective period of the filling
material. Hyaluronic acid in temporary filling
materials is a substance available in the dermis
layer in the skin of all living creatures. It is
available in eye, joint and muscle tissue besides
skin. It takes part in skin elasticity for water
retention characteristic. Hyaluronic acid material
in different molecule weights is selected depending
on the area to be filled. Hyaluronic acid can be
used to fill areas such as lips, crows feet, areas
between eye brows and veins on the sides of the
nose. Possible side effects of filling operations
with hyaluronic acid are pain, swelling, nodules and
color changes in the injection area. Rarely
granuloma and abscess formation can occur.
The most important thing to be considered in filling
operations is that the product should be maintained
under properly sterile conditions and applied
personally. Any other material used for reasons
apart from medical purposes should not be used as
filling material.
